We were some lucky dogs that day. I was told I could not make a reservation at another place and to just show up, but when we arrived there, they said 2 hours wait (whhhhhhattttttt).
While in car on the way there and with people already waiting outside for us, I called up my backup place and they were like come in half an hour. Happy like a pig in sh…. It was about a 5 minute walk to the next place.
Technology (like my mom said is amazing). I got the new place, sent it out to everyone, got lucky with parking and everyone met up within 20 minutes. Presto!
While at this lunch we were able to convince 4 people to take a trip across the world and now we have added 2 more to that group as of late-wow, crazy!
After our little Shanghai restaurant adventure we went to a bakery and then the Chinatown Ice Cream Factory. Yum yum and more yum. It would have been better if the messengers sent int to buy ice cream did not purchase the run of the mill flavors, like strawberry, vanilla and chocolate. –REALLY Team Travel Across the World. All the crazy and exotic flavors and you guys manage to get the supermarket selection. I wept inside and laughed on the outside. We also witness the craziness that is the bakery. There was a line but that was just nuts as well, with people reaching over and shouting over each other. It was like the stock market I think.
Yeah for a nice Chinese New Year weekend–we made out fine.
The restaurant was small but held 30-40 people. They had tidy bathrooms and a fairly clean downstairs. There were attentive waiters-at least today.
We ordered crispy noodles, fried duck, (we did not want to splurge on Peking Duck just yet), sweet and sour fish and sweet and sour chicken, corn soup, an assortment of dumplings, scallion pancakes sliced beef and mixed vegetables. We fed 9 adults and 1 child. The bill came to less than $150—whhhaatttt… We had planned on spending at least 300 and anticipated up to 400. We were pleasantly surprised. Repeat! Repeat! Next time we will get a few more complicated dishes and the fish. I think that we could still keep the bill under $200.
Yay for this new find.
